What is Pulparindo?
Pulparindo is a flat, chewy bar of tamarind pulp seasoned with sugar, salt and chili — made by Dulces de la Rosa of Guadalajara, the company behind the Mazapan peanut candy. It is one of the most recognizable Mexican candies: sweet, sour, salty and mildly hot in the same bite.
The line-up has grown far beyond the original yellow box. Today you will find Extra Hot and Extra Spicy versions, mango, watermelon (sandia) and chamoy flavors, the bite-size coated Pulparindots, Gigante and Mini bar sizes, Push and Pop formats, hard candy with tamarind filling, gummy rings, and the newer Splash squeeze bottles and rim dip paste for drinks and snacks.
- Heat guide: Original is mild; Extra Hot and Extra Picante bring real chili heat; fruit flavors sit in between.
